A new SynField installation took place in Africa. The precision agriculture system was placed in Ibadan, Nigeria, in order to monitor and record the climate and soil conditions prevailing in the area. The SynField head node is equipped with various sensors to measure key environmental parameters relevant to cassava cultivation, such as rainfall, temperature, humidity, solar radiation, and soil moisture content. The data collected from the sensors are being sent to the SynField online platform. Thus, the user can access the data 24/7, no matter where they are.
This is the second SynField system installed in Africa. Additional SynField precision agriculture systems will be installed in 6 African countries (Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Cameroon, and Nigeria) extended the SynField network to 3 continents.
