The second and last phase of SynField systems installations for the automation and optimization of irrigation in parks of the Municipality of Volos was successfully completed, further enhancing sustainability and efficiency in the management of public green spaces. The SynField systems were installed in two large parks of the city: the Town Hall Square (Rigas Feraios Square), with a total area of 38 acres, and the park of Agios Konstantinos, with an area of 22 acres.

Full Automation and Optimization of Irrigation

The installation involves the use of an extensive network of smart devices and sensors, offering real time remote control and monitoring of the irrigation. The SynField systems installed include:
5 SynField X5 head nodes: SynField head nodes are energy-autonomous systems with integrated solar panel (on top of the device) that record sensor values, automatically update the SynField platform and allow remote automation and irrigation
37 SynNano wireless peripheral nodes: SynNano peripheral nodes communicate wirelessly with SynField X5 head nodes creating an extensive network of smart devices, covering installation needs efficiently and cost-effectively. They also run exclusively on battery, offering energy autonomy for over 10 years. Thus, they can be placed even under the ground, without requiring connection to an external power source.

The above systems were equipped with appropriate mechanical equipment for irrigation automation, as well as sensors for collecting environmental data. More specifically, the following equipment was used:
49 electro valves to control water flow in different irrigation zones
2 meteorological stations to monitor the climatic conditions prevailing in the area (such as rainfall, temperature, and humidity)
6 soil sensors, to measure soil moisture, temperature and electrical conductivity
3 pressure sensors to monitor the pressure in the irrigation network.

SynField offers smart irrigation for Parks and Green spaces.
The innovative solution of SynField provides significant benefits, such as:
Reduction of water consumption: Thanks to the continuous monitoring of the soil and climatic conditions of the area, excessive water consumption is avoided. Thus, we achieve precision irrigation by irrigating as needed, when needed, saving valuable resources.
Remote control and monitoring: The park manager can monitor all critical parameters remotely, as well as control the irrigation system via smartphone or computer. Furthermore, the operator will be able to receive notifications about the prevailing conditions such as frost alert, leakage notification in the irrigation network, high or low level of soil moisture.

SynField is the complete and flexible solution for smart irrigation and water management applications, contributing to the sustainable management of green spaces. Through the full automation and optimization of irrigation systems, SynField contributes significantly to saving resources and improving citizens’ quality of life. Aiming to create sustainable and green urban areas, SynField offers solutions that are in line with the needs of modern society and protect the environment for future generations.
